A tattoo artist from São Paulo, Brazil has changed the game for women embarrassed by their stretch marks, offering them an alternative option to expensive laser treatments for reducing the appearance of stretch marks on their buttocks, breasts, stomach or outer thighs. Rodolpho Torres uses a tattooing technique he calls “stretch mark camouflage,” in which he fills the lighter lines of the scars with flesh-toned ink to blend them into the rest of the skin and make them less noticeable, and Alicia Shapira was one of the first artists in the United States to receive training on this amazing technique, making it possible for the first time ever for American women here in South Florida able to diminish the appearance of your stretch marks.
We would like to take the time to answer the most popular questions we have received by the public about this technique:
Q: How long does it last, and will I need a touch up?
A: This ink will last on your skin up to 10 years. You may need to receive a touch up on some of the area 60 days later after healing.
Q: What areas can you treat?
A: I can treat arms, legs, butt, hips, outer thighs, stomach, and chest- pink and white stretch marks only.
Q: How much will this cost me?
A: Anywhere from $800-$5,000 depending on the how many areas of the body you want to treat.
Q: How long does the procedure take?
A: Takes about 3 to 8 hours to complete, again depending on the size of the treatment area.
Q: Will it hurt?
A: Some areas are more sensitive than others but it is bearable. It’s a tattoo!
Q: Since it is a tattoo, do I need to stay protected from the sun?
A: Yes- I highly recommend not doing this procedure before a vacation to a tropical paradise. Excessive sun exposure immediately after procedure will not benefit your healing process.
