If you've ever had some questions about lash lift and tint, we are here to help! We sat down with permanent makeup artist Becca Anfossi, at New Image Beauty Bar, and went through some commonly asked questions about this popular treatment.
Today's topic is an important one! And it's all about who would make a good candidate for Brazilian Stretch Mark Camouflage. The first step to book an appointment is first seeing if your stretch marks are treatable. Let's go through a few simple steps to see if you can be treated!
Step 1: What Color Are Your Stretch Marks? You are a Candidate if: Stretch marks must be lighter than your skin tone to be treated. Meaning light pink or white in color. You are NOT a candidate if: Your stretch marks are red, pink, dark pink, darker than your skin tone or grey. If your stretch marks are not lighter than your natural skin color, then it means your stretch marks are most likely still healing and they may turn to a lighter color down the road. Note: We require stretch marks to be at least two years old.
Step 2: What Texture Are Your Stretch Marks? You are a Candidate it: Your stretch marks are flat and smooth in texture. You are NOT a candidate if your stretch marks are ridged and have texture throughout them. There are treatments to help smoothen your stretch marks, so reach out to us for recommendations of different treatment options to get your stretch marks flat and smooth. We require the stretch marks to be flat and smooth, in order to achieve the most beautiful results.

Today, she is an academy teacher and owner of New Image Beauty Bar. And, now, her beauty business has just undergone another change. She has moved to a new location in Coral Springs, the city where she grew up and lived in for almost three decades, before moving to Parkland. Previously located in the Target plaza on Wiles Road and US 441, New Image Beauty Bar moved in July to 7401 Wiles Rd in Suite #252 in the Whispering Woods Center—as Shapira sought a larger, more private space. New Image Beauty Bar offers a range of makeup, hair, body, and face services that include lash lift and tints, permanent makeup, hair simulation, and vitamin glow scar treatments. The beauty bar, as well as the academy Shapira runs, attracts clients and students from around the country and world, she said, especially because of their unique specializations. In addition to permanent makeup, fibroblast, and micro-needling, they also specialize in 3D areola repigmentation and Brazilian stretchmark and scar camouflaging. In fact, Shapira said she was proud to be the first person in the United States to be trained in the practice. Shapira learned to perform the procedure from its creator, Rodolpho Torres, from Brazil—now, she not only offers it to her clients but also trains others to do it. “People travel here from all over the world, from Singapore to Hawaii to the Netherlands, to travel and learn about [stretch mark camouflage],” she said. Despite her success, with the spread of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic, threatening lives, and livelihoods, many small businesses, including hers, felt the consequences. “It was very scary. I didn’t know if we were all going to make it,” said Shapira. But, she’s adjusted—and the beauty bar currently sees one client at a time and operates by appointment to allow for teaching at the academy when they aren’t seeing clients. Now, she spends her days evenly split between teaching and seeing clients. “Being a teacher in this industry and seeing others succeed because of me is very cool,” she said. Mentoring is important to her, as is building relationships with clients. She also offers 3D areola repigmentation, and eyebrows, to former breast cancer patients for free. A service that can cost hundreds or thousands of dollars, repigmentation is often the final step in breast reconstruction for those with breast cancer. Shapira is happy to offer it at no cost, and as her own father is currently battling stomach cancer, it’s more near and dear to her heart than ever. “In October alone, I did between five and ten for free,” she said. Whatever clients come in for, she loves that people often leaving feeling better than they did when they walked in, and she’s passionate about adding to their confidence. Alicia Shapira is the founder and owner of New Image Beauty Bar. Funny enough, Shapira started as a full-time speech pathologist/cognitive trainer with two of her very own schools that she owned and operated. She really enjoyed her patients, but wanted a career change. She had dreams of getting into the beauty world, so she went back to school and graduated from her esthetician, permanent makeup/paramedical school. She knew once she had her first permanent makeup client, that this was the right decision for her.
She specializes in all of the following procedures: microblading, permanent upper and lower eyeliner, hair stroke eyebrows, shading eyebrows, permanent lip liner & lip blushing, hair simulation for men and women, Brazilian stretch mark and scar camouflage, lift tattooremoval, collagen induction therapy (cit), dry tattooing, surgical scar softening, breast areola tattooing (3d-areola repigmentation), makeup services, dermaplaning, lash lift and tint, Brazilian under eye camouflage, vitamin glow treatment, BB glow facial treatment, fibroblast treatment, hyaluron pen injections for the face, lips.
The one procedure she am most proud of would have to be the Brazilian stretch mark and scar camouflage tattoo. This differs from the standard American technique, and Shapira was the first artist to learn directly from the creator himself, Rodolfo Torres from Brazil, and practice and teach this procedure in the USA. "I believe my passion for perfection and my constant want for knowledge and growth sets me apart from others," says Shapira. "I always feel the need to keep up with the times and learn the latest and greatest of procedures to help people feel beautiful and confident."To learn more about Shapira, check out this VoyageMIA feature, here.
